Lastly, social media helps with stabilizing relationships and allows you to grow a stronger connection. Social media has given us the ability to talk and stay in touch with our friends at all times of the day everyday. Social media provides us a platform to share updates and milestones in our lives, which helps foster a sense of closeness and intimacy with others. Additionally, social media can be a tool for resolving conflicts and misunderstandings, as it allows for more frequent and informal communication. Social media only become more advanced and it has the potential to promote stability in our social connections. Now with that being said, others may argue that social media can give us a false sense of connection, leading us to believe that we are maintaining relationships when in fact we are only interacting through a screen. This can lead to a lack of real-life communication skills and an inability to form genuine emotional connections with others. The reason I disagree with this statement is that this has nothing to do with social media and everything to do with the type of person. Some people are simply not great at speaking in person and have trouble keeping a conversation with someone, while some are better at maintaining a conversation through social media. I completely agree with the people that say you form a better connection through physical interaction than through social media. But saying that social media harms connections makes no sense to me, as its main purpose is to help you be more social, that’s why its called “social media”.
